Cheek lift

Why would you need a cheek lift if you could have a face lift? Well, simply put a cheek lift focuses on the area between the lower eyelid and the top corners of the mouth where as a face lift focuses on the eyes, the outer cheeks and the jowls. A cheek lift is performed on people who have a lot of sagging of the muscles which travel from the cheek bone to the upper lip. When these muscles sag the cheeks tend to look like a flattened apple or that “sunken” appearance below the cheek bone. The cheek lift can also be performed on people who do not have enough definition of the cheek bone, although this type of cheek lift would include cheek implants.

The cheek lift returns a youthful fullness to the cheeks and eliminates the “sunken” appearance as well as minimizing the folds at the sides of the mouth.

The cheek lift is performed through an incision in the lower eyelid, just below the eyelashes. People who normally wear contact lenses will have to wear glasses for a minimum of two weeks after the procedure. Apart from normal swelling and bruising there are no other known side effects, but as with any surgical procedure, it does depend on the individual.
Our surgeons will also be able to advise you on which other procedures you might find beneficial and whether or not they can be combined with the cheek lift. One does need to consider that recovery periods for each procedure do vary, and when combining procedures the overall recovery time could be longer than if you under go one procedure at a time.
Some effects of aging which are improved with a cheek lift include:

Creases around the nose and mouth
Flatter cheeks
“Sunken” cheeks

Some possible risks of a cheek lift include:

Negative reactions to the anesthesia
Blood clots in the leg or lung
Scarring, skin discoloration or an irregular surface from blood or fluid under the skin
Infection
Hair loss along the incision

It is important that you discuss all possible risks and side effects with your surgeon before you make your final decision to go ahead with the procedure.

One beauty of the cheek lift is that although it is a more conservative procedure compared to the face lift, the results are more effective in the mid face region. Should you choose to have a cheek lift, let our qualified professional surgeon help you and provide you with the results you envision!
